Koh Lanta Beaches at a Glance

Koh Lanta's west coast is a chain of long beaches, each a little quieter as you head south.

Klong Dao is closest to Saladan, the main pier town — a wide, family-friendly beach with easy access to shops and restaurants.

Long Beach (Phra Ae) is the island's social centre, with beach bars, mid-range resorts and backpacker bungalows.

Klong Khong and Klong Nin are more relaxed, with rocky patches, sunset bars and a mix of budget and boutique stays.

Kantiang Bay and Bamboo Bay in the far south are the most secluded, with calmer water and fewer visitors.

Where to Stay on Koh Lanta

Budget: bungalows and guesthouses along Long Beach and Klong Khong.

Mid-range: beachfront resorts at Klong Dao and Klong Nin, many with pools.

Luxury: quiet resorts around Kantiang Bay and the southern headlands.

Families tend to prefer Klong Dao; couples looking for peace usually head south. Search current deals on Agoda.

    Getting Around Koh Lanta

The island is roughly 30 km long. Most visitors rent a scooter, use tuk-tuks for short trips, or book hotel transfers. Roads in the south are hilly and winding, so ride carefully. To combine Lanta with the rest of the Andaman coast, see our Krabi to Koh Lanta guide and Phuket to Krabi guide.

    Best Time to Visit

November to April is the dry season with calm seas — the best time for beaches, boat trips and diving. From May to October many resorts close or discount heavily and some boat services stop.

    Getting There

Koh Lanta has no airport. Fly into Krabi (KBV), then take a minivan or private transfer (2–3 hours, including two short car ferries). In high season, ferries also run from Ao Nang, Krabi and Phi Phi.
